Ingredients

  • 12Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lbGround beef
  • 28 ozCrushed tomatoes
  • 1Yellow onion, diced
  • 4 clovesGarlic, minced
  • 15 ozRicotta
  • 2 cupsMozzarella, grated
  • 1/2 cupParmesan, grated
  • 1Egg
  • 1 tbspItalian seasoning
  • 2 tbspOlive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. 1

Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef and onion and cook, breaking the meat up with a spoon, until browned, 6–8 minutes. Stir in the garlic and Italian seasoning for 1 minute, then add the tomatoes and a good pinch of salt. Simmer gently, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring now and then.

  2. 2

Stir the ricotta with the egg, parmesan, and a pinch of salt.

  3. 3

Cook the lasagna noodles until just shy of al dente, then drain and lay flat.

  4. 4

In a baking dish, layer sauce, noodles, ricotta mix, and mozzarella, repeating and finishing with sauce and mozzarella.

  5. 5

Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake until bubbling and golden, 20 minutes more.

  6. 6

Let it rest 15 minutes before cutting so the layers set.
