Ingredients

  • 2 cupall-purpose flour
  • 2 tspbaking powder
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 3/4 cupmilk
  • 1 1/2 cupoil, for frying

Method

  1. 1

Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Pour in the milk and stir until combined, then bring the mixture into a ball and lightly knead until a smooth dough forms.

  2. 2

Break off about 10 pieces of dough and roll each into a smooth ball.

  3. 3

Heat enough oil in a 25cm (10-inch) skillet over medium heat until it reaches 175°C/350°F.

  4. 4

Fry the dumplings until golden brown on one side, then flip and cook the other side until browned, about 2–3 minutes per side.

  5. 5

Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels or a cooling rack. Serve hot.
