Ingredients

  • 1bread roll, soaked in milk to soften
  • 120 mlmilk, for soaking bread roll
  • 1onion, chopped
  • 100 mlvegetable oil, for frying onion and patties
  • 500 gground beef
  • 1egg
  • 1 clovegarlic
  • marjoram, dried
  • 75 gdried breadcrumbs, for coating

Method

  1. 1

Soak the bread roll in the milk until completely softened. Meanwhile, fry the onion in a splash of the oil for about 8 minutes until soft and golden.

  2. 2

Add the fried onion to the ground beef along with the egg, garlic, marjoram, and seasoning. Squeeze the excess milk from the bread roll and add it to the mixture. Mix everything well and season thoroughly.

  3. 3

Divide the meat mixture into 8 even patties. Tip the dried breadcrumbs into a shallow bowl and coat each patty all over.

  4. 4

Heat the remaining oil in a deep frying pan and fry the patties in batches on both sides until browned and cooked through, about 6–7 minutes per side.
