Pouding Chômeur
Québécois self-saucing maple syrup pudding cake.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cupbutter, softened; for cake batter
- 1 cupsugar, for cake batter
- 2eggs, for cake batter
- 1 tspvanilla extract, for cake batter
- 2 cupflour, for cake batter
- 1 tspbaking powder, for cake batter
- 1 1/4 cupmilk, for cake batter
- 1 1/2 cupmaple syrup, for maple sauce
- 1 1/2 cupbrown sugar, for maple sauce
- 1 1/2 cuplight cream, for maple sauce
- 1/3 cupbutter, for maple sauce

Preheat oven to 160°C (325°F). Beat the ½ cup butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix.

Gently pour the hot sauce over the cake batter. Bake for about 35 minutes until the cake is light brown and a toothpick comes out clean.

Mix the flour and baking powder together. Add the flour mixture and milk alternately to the butter mixture, mixing to a smooth batter.

Pour into a greased 33 × 23cm (13 × 9 inch) baking dish.

Make the maple sauce: bring the maple syrup, brown sugar, cream and ⅓ cup butter to a boil in a large saucepan, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and cook gently for 2 minutes.
