Spaghetti Bolognese

Classic beef mince and tomato pasta sauce

Ingredients

  • 500 glean beef mince
  • 2onions
  • 1 tbspolive oil
  • 1 clovegarlic
  • 90 gmushrooms
  • 1 tspdried oregano
  • 400 gcanned tomatoes
  • 300 mlbeef stock
  • 1 tbsptomato purée
  • 1 tbspworcestershire sauce
  • 350 gspaghetti
  • parmesan, to serve, grated

Method

    Fry the onions in the olive oil in a large pan over fairly high heat for 3–4 minutes. Add the garlic and beef mince and fry until both are browned.

    Add the mushrooms and dried oregano and cook for 2 more minutes.

    Stir in the canned tomatoes, beef stock, tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning. Bring to the boil, then cover, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Cook the spaghetti in a large pan of boiling salted water according to pack instructions. Drain well.

    Stir the bolognese sauce through the spaghetti and serve in hot bowls with Parmesan for sprinkling.
